MADISON, WIS. – Challenges with extreme weather, pollution prevention and the need to reinvest in the region’s water infrastructure require shared decisions.
To help prioritize efforts and develop community-oriented solutions to these and other issues, Madison Metropolitan Sewerage District will host a customer and community meeting March 20 from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the District’s Maintenance Facility, 1610 Moorland Road, Madison, 53713.
“Water defines our way of life in south central Wisconsin and it’s also fundamental to our mission at Madison Metropolitan Sewerage District as we work to protect public health and the environment,” said Michael Mucha, the District’s chief engineer and director. “Back in 1930, area community leaders came together to create a regional sewerage District as one means to protect the region’s surface waters and support the growing economy. Today, we face additional challenges and we’re eager to work with community leaders to improve understanding of the issues and establish shared priorities.”
Prior to the meeting, which is free and open to the public, community members with an interest in water quality and regional infrastructure issues are encouraged to complete a brief (4 minutes) online survey to help inform the discussion. TAKE SURVEY
The meeting itself will feature an overview of key issues as well as impressions gained from the informal survey. Following the overview session, public officials from the District’s 26 customer communities will participate in facilitated discussions to identify priorities and potential paths forward.
